Yoga for Pain Relief Workshop
Steps to an Extraordinary Life
Do you or your students struggle with tight hamstrings, sore knees, or hips that just won’t open? Do you suffer from back pain or neck pain? Why do so many of us experience chronic pain? Is there an effective way to deal with these conditions through yoga? There sure is. Join me at a Yoga for Pain Relief Workshop or practice from my book.
In the final analysis, most pain is foundational, resulting from imbalances in the musculoskeletal system. We are in pain because we are misaligned, or “crooked.” Even if you think you have good posture, you probably don’t, as misalignments are often not obvious to the untrained eye. Correcting muscle imbalances will give you better posture, more energy, and reduce or eliminate many painful conditions.
Yoga can correct muscle imbalances in a relatively short time, but only if you learn to identify these imbalances and then practice the specific postures for those imbalances. Yoga has developed into a practice of performing poses. To achieve even greater benefit from your practice, the emphasis should be on selecting the correct pose that will bring the musculoskeletal system back into balance. Choosing the correct pose for your current muscle imbalances will result in the most therapeutic outcome.
Performing yoga poses with an emphasis on correcting muscle imbalances instead of practicing poses will bring superior physical benefits. What is lacking in many yoga practices is the ability to evaluate and know which postures would be beneficial at this time for a particular body and the conditions it is presenting. There are hundreds of poses to choose from when practicing yoga. Learning and understanding the poses, and what muscles they are stretching or strengthening, will bring you the most benefit.
This workshop will teach how to quickly identify the most common misalignments and to develop a quick and simple approach to getting back into balance and reducing or eliminating the pain. This is accomplished by first identifying muscle imbalances and then selecting the proper yoga poses to either stretch or strengthen targeted muscles in the body that will start to bring them back into balance.
